Dad Strength Daily is a one-person site run by me, Gunnar Evermann. This page explains what information the site collects when you visit, why, and what you can do about it. Questions go to info@dadstrengthdaily.com.
What I don’t do
I don’t sell, rent or trade personal information. The site runs no ads, no ad trackers and no affiliate tracking, and I never ask you for health information.
Analytics
The site uses Google Analytics to count visits and see which posts people read. Google Analytics uses cookies to record things like the pages you view, how you arrived, your browser and device type, and your approximate location. I only look at these numbers in aggregate. Google handles this data under the Google Privacy Policy, and you can block it with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on or any tracker blocker. I also use Google Search Console and YouTube Analytics, which report search and video totals, not individual visitors.
Comments
If you leave a comment, the site stores the name, email address and website you enter, the comment itself, and your IP address and browser details. Your email address is never published. The IP address and browser details help filter spam; the spam filter runs on this site and doesn’t send your comment to an outside service. The site may send a scrambled version of your email address to Gravatar, a WordPress service, to show your profile picture if you have one. If you tick the box to save your details, a cookie remembers them on your device for a year. Please don’t post private health details in a comment.
The newsletter
The newsletter runs on Substack. When you subscribe, you do it on Substack’s site, under Substack’s privacy policy. I can see subscribers’ email addresses and basic engagement, such as opens. You can unsubscribe from any email.
Security and hosting
The site is hosted by Kinsta. Like any web server, it keeps logs of requests, including IP addresses. A security plugin also records IP addresses and request details to block attacks. These logs are used only to keep the site running and safe.
Links and embedded content
Posts link to studies, news and other sites, and some may embed content such as videos. Those sites have their own privacy policies and may collect data when you visit them or view their embedded content.
My own analytics tool and Google data
I use a private command-line tool, “DSD Analytics CLI,” to read analytics for my own website and my own YouTube channel through Google’s APIs (Google Analytics, Search Console, YouTube Analytics and the YouTube Data API, all read-only). It accesses only my own accounts, keeps its access tokens on my own computer, and doesn’t share, sell or transfer that data to anyone. It is not offered to other users. Its use of information received from Google APIs follows the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Your choices
You can ask me to send you a copy of the personal data the site holds about you, such as your comments, or to delete it. Email info@dadstrengthdaily.com. Comments stay on the site until you ask me to remove them. Analytics data is kept according to Google Analytics’ retention settings.
Changes
If this policy changes, I’ll update this page and the date at the top.
