Welcome. I’m Gunnar, and this is DadStrengthDaily: a place for men in their fifties who’d rather check the data than guess. I’m not a doctor. I’m a guy who got serious about his own health, went on TRT, dropped about 170 pounds on a GLP-1, and learned to read the studies instead of waiting for a headline to tell me what they said. I also moderate r/ProactiveHealth. This page is the fast way in.
If you’re already on the list, the email lands Sunday morning: the biggest thing that happened in men’s health and longevity that week, what’s worth watching next, and links to anything I published. About once a month I go deeper on one topic. If you’re not on the list yet:
Pick your lane
Most people find me through one of three doors. Here’s the best of each.
GLP-1s and weight loss
- How Americans actually get Zepbound and Mounjaro: the five channels
- SURMOUNT-MAINTAIN: the dose-reduction trial I wanted
- The GLP-1 Pipeline Tracker (bookmark this one; I keep it current)
Hormones and TRT
- What TRT actually did for me at 53
- 7 ways to raise testosterone without TRT (if you are not ready for the needle)
Heart and longevity
- Reading your cholesterol panel at 50
- The year I took my heart seriously: LDL, a GLP-1, and ezetimibe
- What VO2 max actually means after 50

Why proactive
The whole idea lives in the name of the subreddit I help run, r/ProactiveHealth. Most of medicine waits for something to break and then reacts to it. I’d rather catch the thing while it’s still a number on a lab report. That isn’t paranoia. It’s the gap between adjusting a dose and managing a diagnosis.
I have a personal reason to think this way. A few years ago a scan turned up an aortic aneurysm I had no symptoms of. Found early, it’s something I keep an eye on. Found late, it’s a very different conversation. That’s the bias I bring to everything here: read the data and ask the question early, before someone else has to ask it for you.
A few ways to get more out of this
- Come argue with us at r/ProactiveHealth. I am there most days.
- If something here helps, forward it to one guy who needs it. Most men get this stuff from a friend, not an algorithm.
See you Sunday.
Gunnar
